It is raining crossovers all over the world and even the big German manufacturers have decided to create smaller cars. Among them is Mercedes-Benz that comes up with GLA crossover. Mercedes is launching its rival to the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3 in the form of the GLA with an expected price between Rs.27-Rs 30 lakh. At the outset, the car resembles the A-Class and the B-Class. A large two-slat grille finished in a shade of matte silver with chrome accents dominates the GLA’s front fascia. It showcases a distinctive line that emerges from the headlamp and extends all the way to the rear wheel arch. Fitted with the large tail lamps and having the almost coupe-esque profile, the GLA looks appealing. Though it comes with standard 17-inch wheels, buyer can go for 18” or 19” wheels. Interior looks classy and sporty. It is available with a 5-seater configuration with the wide choice of seat upholsteries and colour combination. With petrol and diesel options, GLA features a McPherson front axle and an independent multilink rear suspension. Combined with the large wheels and tyres, the GLA is quite a treat to drive, especially on broken and uneven roads that are common in India. Last but not the least it is endowed with electro-mechanical power steering and disc brakes.
